American Express Launches New Summer Travel Promotion — Offering Cardmembers Triple Membership Rewards Points on Airfare

WHAT: American Express (NYSE: AXP) today announced a nationwide promotion that will allow U.S. Consumer and OPEN Green, Gold1, Platinum and Centurion Charge Cardmembers enrolled in the Membership. Rewards program to receive triple points on all purchases with all major U.S. and virtually all international airlines.

WHEN: The promotion applies to airline purchases made between July 1 and September 30, 2010.

WHY: Knowing the American Express Cardmembers love to travel, the bonus points promotion is designed to reward them with bonus points on their airfare purchases during the peak summer travel season. The promotion helps make booking a trip this summer an even more rewarding experience, while also getting Cardmembers closer to redeeming points toward the millions of rewards, including travel, offered through the Membership Rewards program.

HOW: To take advantage of this offer, Cardmembers enrolled in the Membership Rewards program must register their existing Charge Card by September 30, 2010 either online at or by calling 1-800-794-1308 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              1-800-794-1308      end_of_the_skype_highlighting and using the promotional code 17677001.  There is no cost to enroll.  Cardmembers must book their travel using the enrolled Card to receive bonus points.  The total bonus points that can be earned during the promotion is 15,000 points.
